Trailer of the Day: Rango Super Bowl Spot

A chameleon that aspires to be a swashbuckling hero finds himself in a Western town plagued by bandits and is forced to literally play the role in order to protect it.

I was incredibly ambivalent toward this film until I saw this Super Bowl spot. The insult contest with the Mattie Ross analogue made me laugh and I’m really starting to love the hyper-detailed animation style present in the various anthropomorphized critters. Here’s hoping the film is as enjoyable as this trailer.

Trailer of the Day: The Secret of Kells

When Vikings attack an Irish abbey, the monks must stop work on the legendary Book of Kells and protect their home. So Brendan (voiced by Evan McGuire), the 12-year-old nephew of Abbott Cellach (Brendan Gleeson), is tasked with completing the magnificent work. Now, he must confront his most intense fears as he uses his illumination skills and braves the enchanted forest outside the abbey walls in this exhilarating, Oscar-nominated animated tale.

This looks like an Irish Miyazaki film with Samurai Jack/Thief and the Cobbler style animation. And I am so down for that. How cool is that little girl?
